The Generali Berlin Half Marathon is one of Europe’s largest and most international half marathons, renowned for its flat, fast course and vibrant atmosphere. Held annually in early April, it attracts tens of thousands of runners from around the world. The 2026 edition will welcome more than 35,000 participants, making it one of the biggest half marathons globally. Starting and finishing on Karl‑Marx‑Allee, the course winds through Berlin’s historic streets, past landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Cathedral, Victory Column, and Potsdamer Platz. With cool spring weather, a supportive crowd of over 200,000 spectators, and a reputation for personal bests, Berlin offers both elite competition and a welcoming experience for recreational runners. Whether you’re chasing a record, running for charity, or enjoying the city’s energy, the Berlin Half Marathon delivers an unforgettable journey through history, resilience, and celebration.
Every year in spring, runners in the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON get to experience what many athletes around the world can only dream about as they take their final strides. About a hundred metres after passing through the Brandenburg Gate, their arms go up in celebration as they cross the finish line. This top international event offers the most exciting 21 kilometres imaginable through Berlin.
The start and finish area between the Federal Chancellery, Reichstag, Victory Column, and Brandenburg Gate in the heart of the city provides a spectacular location to launch the new running season. Berlin’s number one sporting event in the spring is the motivational and atmospheric kick-off to the running year.
The GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON offers a sightseeing tour on foot. This unique event brings together historical buildings, trendy neighbourhoods, places steeped in history, modern architecture, cultural palaces, clubs, parks, and nature in a way no other sports event in the capital can. The city tour with a sporty touch continues its trend as a hip happening in the running community. At the same time, the flat, super-fast route is also ideal for attempting to smash your personal best.

A fast race with minimal elevation
The course is smooth and very flat, making it ideal for those looking to challenge their personal best. With a route sheltered from the wind, extremely flat, and featuring an elite field of runners, the Berlin Half Marathon has been the site of the last seven world half marathon records.

Hotel Information
This 4-star superior hotel offers 3 restaurants, a spa, and air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen TVs. It is Berlin’s tallest hotel and is located directly on Alexanderplatz Square.
All rooms and suites at the Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz have marble bathrooms with power showers and heated floors. Free WiFi is provided throughout the hotel. Meals and drinks are available in the Spagos Bar & Lounge, prepared before your eyes in the open kitchen. The Park Inn’s wellness center includes a sauna, gym, and massages. Guests can also relax on the top-floor terrace, which offers great views of central Berlin.
The Park Inn by Radisson stands opposite Alexanderplatz Station, which offers bus, tram, underground, and S-Bahn rail links to all parts of Berlin. Museum Island and the lively Hackescher Markt area are a 10-minute walk away.
The hotel is located 2.5 km from the start of the race. You can reach it by metro in 15 minutes.
